The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling is prohibited from taking a position for or against the expansion or contraction of gambling. KYCPG is gambling neutral – gambling exists. KYCPG’s purpose is to advocate for services for and to help compulsive gamblers and their families. KYCPG does take two active legislative positions.
As debate in Kentucky continues on whether gambling should be expanded, KYCPG has developed a proposal for a GAP – Gambling Assistance Program – which includes model legislative language, funding calculations and thumbnail program descriptions. To fail to address the certainty that expanded gambling will result in more compulsive gamblers who surface for treatment is irresponsible.
