Counselor Certification
The Kentucky Council on Compulsive Gambling encourages individuals to become Certified Compulsive Gambler Counselors. Although professionally counseling compulsive gamblers shares many aspects of professional counseling of other addictions and disorders, there are some critically important differences. Without familiarity of and understanding how to address those differences, the attempt at counseling a compulsive gambler can be unsuccessful.
The American Compulsive Gambling Counselor Certification Board, Inc. (ACGCCB) provides a nationally recognized certification that can build on an individual’s existing counseling credential.
